Iditarod - It's there

Just had mushers meeting. Can't wait to get all the hoopla over with and be on the trail.

Good luck to all the students with their projects. I'll be thinking about you guys when we're out there.

All dogs are looking great. I'm really excited about this team. It's a young group of dogs though and I didn't train them very hard so we're gonna take it easy. Nooo, young students, I'm not gonna win. We're gonna have a lot of fun.

I'm looking forward to be on the trail again, just me, the dogs and nature.

Hi Sam

As I followed the race and watched your various videos, I read that Pat had crashed, you had helped and then happened to look at your discussion of losing your brake on the Steps. As I watched you I suddenly realized what a really good person you are and I am so glad I've supported you and given you the thumbs up before your trip to White Horse.

I know you will keep up the good work all the way around, whether I encourage you or not, but even though this race will be not be stellar in the finish category, it is still the one that has defined you in my mind as a special person.

Just wanted to let you know that my group of 4th grade readers are following you and Mitch Seevey's puppies again this year. We will check in on you each day. I have shown them pictures of you with the puppies from our trip to Alaska and our tour of the kennel. We were so proud of you in 2008 when you finished with all of the puppies! I hope you have a fantastic race and enjoy your time on the trail with your dogs. I like your attitude about enjoying the race and nature and not being focused on winning as the goal - just finishing well makes you a big winner, and if all your dogs can finish because you take such good care of them, that's even better.

Dag Sam. Hopelijks heb je nog kans gezien mijn mailtje te lezen. De MS-Liga Vlaanderen staat achter je. Fantastisch wat je doet en vooral wat je drijft.

Terwijl jij in de kou rondmusht, proberen wij hier de media warm te krijgen. De campagne is op gang aan het komen, maar heeft nog een boost nodig op radio en TV. De site www.race4ms krijgt alvast veel hits. Nu nog veel reacties en acties.

We wensen je alle succes toe met de Iditarod: geniet ervan. Hou het veilig en tot binnenkort.

Terwijl hier de zon aan het schijnen is, hoera!, wens ik jou daar andere temperaturen toe, zodat je honden in topform blijven! Het zal opnieuw een lastige uitdaging worden, maar ik ben er zeker van dat je dit met verve zal volbrengen.
