When my mom turned 25 she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. MS is a chronical, uncureable disease. Worldwide over 2 million peoples lifes are affected by this disease. The nervous system is being damaged which causes sensitivity and movement disorders. Slowly, continuously and unpredictable physical functions decrease.
Every day is a new challenge, planning difficult, fatigue a given.
This is not so different when I’m running Iditarod. There are times I can barely stand on my feet cause I’m so tired. My mom is a source of inspiration during such moments. She still climbs stairs. Slowly, step by step and with a lot of mental strength. That’s the way I continue when it gets tough as well. Step by step. I have no reason to complain since I willingly chose for this challenge but I never hear her doing so either.

I want to dedicate my participation in the Iditarod to those who face these tremendous physical and mental challenges every day. I want to raise respect, recognition, awareness and appreciation for their every day accomplishments, whether it’s walking to the store, climbing stairs or fighting desperation.
Also financially I want to support the MS-liga. They do not only provide information for those living with MS, they also support scientifically MS-research.
By buying booties or T-shirts here you not only help me to fulfill my dream but also make sure the MS-liga can continue doing it’s wonderful work.
